Hi guys,
i need some advice. I have been working and living in hong kong for almost 7 years. I have a 10, 8 and 3 year old. The older ones are in the EFS school system. I was wondering if moving to bangkok would be a good idea for my young family. Schooling and safety are my major concerns. I dont really have to move to bangkok but an opportunity has arisen and i'm tempted to take it. But my family comes first. Has anyone who have moved from hk to bangkok have any regrets and what they miss or not about hk. Thanks a million for in advance
There are some excellent schools in Bangkok to equal or even improve on EFS, and generally living is high standard and safe, although there are of course some concerns regarding the current political situation. Nobody is really sure what will happen or how it will affect the expat life in Thailand. There are good support networks.
Should you decide to go ahead with moving I am more than happy to help generally with advice regarding schools. Please email stephanie.j@shrewsbury.ac.th (I can be quite impartial!)
I was in a similar situation 3 years ago. We were in HK for a number of years as well before moving here. I would be more than happy to share with you the pros and cons and then some. Feel free to send me an email at: Karen@santafe.co.th to discuss.
Hi, besides finding the right accommodation and schools for children, have you thought of how you can receive your salary without having to convert to THB. I'm working in a bank in Singapore which provides offshore banking service.
