Help ! Just found out we are moving to BK from Hong Kong this summer. Have lived in HK for 3 years and loved it - now have LOADS of questions for anyone helpful in BK!
I am British and have 3 kids of secondary school age who all attended ESF schools in HK. Can you recommend any schools ? Also, depending on where the school is, where would the best places to live be ? We want a 4-5 bed house in a secure area preferably with lots of other expats. Oh, and we need a garden as we have two dogs ........
I am feeling very apprehensive about this move, so any information/reassurances would be really helpful.
Subic Sailor.. that all depends on what you negotiate. The better your skills the better the package. Otherwise.. you may be on your own.
As for accomodation it depends on how deep your pockets run. YOu can get a decent place (serviced apartment) for 8,000 baht a month and a 2-bedroom for 13,000. Or you can get a three bedroom, 2 bath, formal, informal, living room and separate dining room with maids quarter for 14,000 baht a month. Or.. you can pay 160,000 baht a month to stay in an upscale overarted neighbourhood (and that is still cheap compared to some expat communities).
So it all depends on what you want, and what you negotiate.
Hi, besides finding the right accommodation and schools for children, have you thought of how you can receive your salary without having to convert to THB. I'm working in a bank in Singapore which provides offshore banking service.
