hi,
i have read somewhere that expats in bangkok have an average salary of 30K/month, is this true? one company is looking for sales execs with 400usd/month salary, does this mean that it's considered too low for an expat rate? i'm no entry level [but not managerial level either], but even at entry level the rate should be a little too low? any salary sample [expat rate] or input would be greatly appreciated!
A fresh grad marketing assistant would make about USD400/month so I doubt this position if for an expat because you would have a tough time making ends meet on that.
Interesting comment from one of our Bangkok clients recently. He runs multiple successful businesses and has been there for nearly 20 years - he does not know of one person who has arrived in the city without being brought over by a major company who has ever found a well-paid position. He indicates that all the people who knows working in solid positions were either working for their company in another country or head hunted. The only expats he knows who have made out well are those who started their own businesses.
Not saying its impossible but it is very very difficult to find a decent job in Bangkok by simply showing up.
I agree to a large extent. I came over here working for my own UK company and have now joined in a new company with Thais who are in the same field as me.
The money is definitely here if you keep your head. The majority don't.
Some guys become addicted to the bar life, begin turning up late for work or not at all, and eventually return to their home country unemployed and broke.
