When you return here try the aptly-named Vertigo restaurant on the roof of the Banyan Tree hotel. A tad pricey but the view is astounding.
There is no roof so it will be closed in bad weather, so September is a month to avoid.
For a more traditional Thai restaurant with pleasant garden surroundings and a large sumptuous
menu try Rouen Mallika on Sukhumnvit soi 22.
If you can survive tacky surroundings with awful service then Cabbages and Condoms on soi 12 has a good menu too with Thai food prepared more to the Western taste. We go there if we aren't pressed for time.
