Asiasports Limited was created in July of 1996 and operates 2 full time employees out of Hong Kong. The company is owned by 25 current and former Hong Kong Ice Hockey members. Asiasports Limited focuses its efforts on promoting recreational ice hockey, softball and basketball through the development of local leagues and international tournaments throughout South East Asia.
The first ice hockey game was played in Hong Kong on a "L" shaped rink in 1984. Today, there are over 30 teams competiting in domestic leagues which include men, women and children. At the end of the domestic season, Hong Kong annually hosts Asia's largest international tournament. The 1999 event featured 44 teams, competing in over 100 games in a 10 day extravaganza which was highlighted by the presence of Mr. and Mrs. Gordie Howe.
